Manufacturers
Seek Cost Savings
Through Energy Cooperative
Manufacturer’s Association of the Jamestown Area
byTodd Tranum
(August
28, 2003) The Manufacturer’s Association of the
Jamestown Area has announced a new partnership to help
its members save money. MAJA has established a partnership
with the Energy Cooperative of New York (ECNY) to purchase
natural gas and electricity at cost.
“Energy costs are a big concern of our members
and it is our goal through this partnership to reduce
those costs,” stated Todd Tranum, Executive Director
of the Manufacturers Association of the Jamestown Area.
“We look forward to bringing value to our membership
in partnership with the Energy Cooperative of New York.”
Joseph Mascaro, the Executive Director of ECNY stated,
“ECNY is pleased to welcome manufacturer’s
into the group. Their membership will further enhance
the cooperative’s ability to purchase natural
gas and electricity supply at rates which greatly benefit
our members.”
ECNY is a not-for-profit organization that uses
group buying to lower its members’ gas and
electricity costs. The Cooperative combines all
of its members into one group and then uses the
energy consultant group, LepCorp, to enable them
to purchase energy directly from the wholesale
market. This method allows for smaller companies
to save money without having to accrue a huge
energy bill or have multiple accounts. In addition
the members do not have to track their own usage,
or worry about ordering too much or too little
gas or electric.
The objective of the Manufacturers Association is to
promote the common interests of the membership through
the development of information and services of benefit
to the members and the geographic area in which they
operate. The Manufacturers Association is a pro-active
leader committed to enhancing the economic strength
of the region. The Association is a primary resource
for information and assistance to promote manufacturing
excellence.
